17 Days – Jordan Smallwood

In honor of Oklahoma Football being just 17 days away, today we will do a quick spotlight over Sooners Wide Receiver, #17, Jordan Smallwood.

Jordan Smallwood is a 6’2″ 225lb receiver with great hands and quick feet.  He played all 13 games as a freshman, but only recorded 3 catches for 21 yards. Having elite players like Dede Westbrook and Sterling Shepard with him on the field surely didn’t make it easy for him to get the ball. In the spring before his sophomore season, Smallwood tore his left anterior cruciate ligament, which sidelined him for six games. When he finally got back on the field, he didn’t record any catches. Last season, Smallwood played in all 13 games, one of which he started. He recorded 5 receptions for 52 yards. This upcoming season should be his biggest yet, as he is one of the more talented of the receivers on the field.

Smallwood has been plagued by injuries, but he feels that this year is his year.

Smallwood on stepping up for Sooners- “I feel like it’s finally my year to be accountable and help out the team. Not try to be a one man show but more like just helping out in the best way I can.”

This year, Smallwood will make a big impact for the Sooners, as he will have to step up to help replace what is missing after the loss of Biletnikoff Award Winner and Heisman Finalist, Dede Westbrook.

Expect to see Smallwood and fellow receiver Jeffery Mead step up in big ways for the Sooners this upcoming season.

Happy 17 days till OU Football.
